We're moving!!!

Trying a New Home...

As you know the North West Coffee Mornings were started to accommodate those of us in the Hills area, who find it difficult to get to the multitude of Coffee Mornings around Sydney. However, as it turns out, most of our friends head into the city, or North Sydney for work, so getting to North Rocks is difficult at the best of times.

The common consensus is to try out somewhere, at least closer to public transport. So for the next couple of weeks, we're trying Epping.

Meet us at Pablo and Rusty's, who by the way are on Twitter.

They're opposite the Epping Train Station (South Side), and next to the Epping Bus Terminus. If you're driving, there's ample parking at Coles, just pop through past the Epping Hotel, and cross the bridge over the station. You may find parking in the roads nearby as well.

If you're coming from Hornsby, you'll probably find hopping on the train, and off at Epping station the quickest and easiest way to get there.

CeBIT Tweetup Excursion

Tomorrow a bunch of us are going to hop on the train into the city to get to the CeBIT Exhibition after #nwcm.

Let's try this and keep spreading the love. :-)

Meeting #6

It was great to see @Schmediachick join us, as well as @JustinKing and @AllisonR for another inspiring coffee this week. All up we've had some 20 attendees to the Coffee morning, just not on the same morning :-)

The discussion ranged from "wet work" (seriously) to start-up funding, to developer training, and branding yourself. I find it incredible that even with only 4 people at the coffee morning, 2 introductions were made.

See you next week.

CoffeeCam: 16 March 2010

Yet again we had two newcomers to the North West Coffee Morning - Andrew McLennan works for PosPos, which despite their name deals on Mobile Solutions. (about 15% of their business is in Point of Sale Solutions). Mark Trant, on the other hand works for Honeywell. Interesting discussions about the future of mobility, and enabling technology in general.

Also Allison (@AllisonR), Kean (@KeanM), Andrew (@Andyc007), and I (@Rog42) tucked into a hearty breakfast, solved the worlds problems (theoretically), then headed off to various workplaces to put such great theory into practice.

NWCM #3 - 2 Mar 2010 - The Puzzle

We had another great coffee morning yesterday. The 3rd for the North West. Along for the discussion were:
  •  @Andyc007, Technologist, Genetecist, and Entrepreneur extraordinaire. Andrew has an intimate knowledge of the latest gadgets borne from significant experience in supplying the Mining & Logistics Industries as well as the Public Sector. There isn't an enterprise need, or device that Andrew wouldn't be able to help you understand. If it's wooden though...
  • @KeanM, Electronics Engineer, Embedded Developer, IT Consultant (Nix & Windows). Kean has this amazing way of quietly bringing you to the solution of your complex problem, especially if it's technical. From flouroscopes to determine water health (for Algae Growth) to wireless medical equipment, Kean's your man. Also, founder of the Sydney Mobile Usergroup back when PDA's were an exotic extravagance. He did solve this weeks puzzle.
  • @wwwaves, Mark runs a global recruitment site, and is the developer of http://wavesurfers.us/ looking to bring (Public) Waves out of the Google Sandbox and onto sites where people are hanging out - Facebook, Blogs, you get the drift.
  • @Rog42, Roger, your host. Passionate about helping people become outstanding in their field. Either through connections, professional skills, or technology. Whether it's helping an Aged Care facility develop a better reporting system, helping a retail expert get video on the web, or connecting a Super Model to a major sw company. At the end of the day, we all need a little help....
This week I brought along a wooden puzzle. Something to do, to initiate conversation, to highlight complex problems are better approached together, a little fun....

See you next week

Looking forward to #nwcm - who're you bringing along

The value of coffee mornings is inestimable. It really is. The great people I've met, business connections made, and opportunities for work are untold.

But that value comes from within. The more we give, the more we create. So my question to all of the would be attendees for #nwcm on Tuesday is: "Who're you introducing to the Coffee Morning?"

The beauty of the coffee morning is exactly that. It's a coffee morning. There's no cost (apart from your coffee and time); no agenda; no-one trying to sell you anything; in short, no threat. You can invite a business or personal colleague without worrying about whether they'll feel embarrassed, awkward, or putting a strain on your relationship. I mean, even if no-one else pitches up, you get to have a coffee with a friend. That in itself is a worthy investment.

Of course when the others do pitch up, you get to connect your colleague to inspirational others, and they to him/her. That's when the magic happens.

So come one, come all, and "Who're you introducing to the Coffee Morning?"
